According to Pilita Clark ( Financial Times 6th March) carbon emissions in the UK have fallen to the lowest since 1894.

Consumption of coal sank by 52% in 2016 from the previous year.  It was 23% of the UK energy mix two years ago but 9% last year.  The reason is the growth of gas and renewables and a carbon tax  which doubled to £18 a ton in April 2015.
